Lions, Tigers, and Saxes, Oh My!, by Randy Navarre. Grade 1/2 (in Phrygian Mode).
As with all grade 1/2 music by Northeastern Music Publications, Inc., this composition is designed to be played by students after only five or six lessons. It is written is a Phrygian Mode so the students get to hear a minor sound at an early stage of their musical development. There are no accidentals. The first phrase is an exercise in counting rest, and the 2nd phrase is a contrasting smooth, melodic melody. No clarinet crosses the break, and the first trumpet's highest note is A. ($42)

This is an easy grade 2 arrangement of a traditional Irish melody. The percussion section adds to the excitement with a syncopated timpani part and variety of percussion instruments. Dragons In The Mist, by Randy Navarre. Grade 1/2.
A very easy composition written in choral style. The song consist of 2 eight bar phrases that are repeated by different sections of the band to create different colors, but the students play the same 16 measures each time. As with all of our Grade 1 compositions, this piece is playable with only 6 lessons of study in most beginner books. The 1st trumpet's highest note is Bb. ($42)

This composition depicts the admiration that Americans felt as the American flag was being placed on the moon by astronaut, John Armstrong on July 20, 1969! A great tribute to the advances humans have made since that moment over 35 years ago. This emotional composition opens with a majestic fanfare followed by a slow lyrical section and returns with a powerful closing statement. Sky's The Limit, by Rob Grice. Grade 2.
An exciting composition that will inspire your students to reach new plateaus! It's great for teaching students syncopation and introducing sixteenth notes. The syncopation is not difficult and the sixteenth notes are only in short diatonic runs for one beat or less. Ngiele, Ngiele, (Two Songs From The Congo), arranged by Randy Navarre, Grade 1
The first song is a lullaby from the Congo region of Africa. The second song, "Ngiele, Ngiele," is also from the Congo region of Africa and is the story of a young girl bitten by a poisonous snake. The music is played to counteract the venom and save the girls life. An assortment of African drums may be used, but an optional snare drum/bass drum is provided. Both songs use only the first six notes most students learn to play. It is an easy song to play and will be fun for both the students and the audience. In The Valley of Magic By Randy Navarre, Grade 1.
This composition is ideal for the first concert. It is very easy to play with only a few eighth notes in the whole arrangement. The 1st clarinets play the lower notes, the 2nd clarinets play the easy middle range. This helps the 1st clarinet players develop a good hand position so it will be easier to cross the break (no clarinet crosses the break in this song). The trumpet moves scale wise up to C, 3rd space, forcing them to play louder and have more air support. The rhythms are very easy, but they must count in the middle section to keep from playing an unexpected solo. This is a very pretty song. ($42)

One can imagine being a troubadour traveling through the countryside, seeing a castle in the distance. The sounds of life become louder as he nears the castle.
